Yoga is a discipline with roots in ancient India. The first mentions of yoga go back to over five thousand years ago. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word "yug" which translates as "to connect" or "to yolk". Through yoga we aim to achieve a greater connection between our body and mind (through conscious breathing and awareness) and between ourselves and our surroundings. It is a discipline aimed at physical and mental self-improvement.
There are many types of yoga, from very gentle to highly demanding. The yoga classes I offer are aimed at improving your cardio, strength, balance and flexibility. Classes do not follow the same routine, but rather mix different postures to introduce variety and target different areas. This improves your functional strength, as well as your performance abilities in other areas of life. It can also help prevent injury if you do any other sports. I recommend getting in touch prior to attending a class if you haven't done yoga before or have any concerns.
I am a fully qualified yoga teacher with Sun Power Yoga and hold qualifications in anatomy and physiology.
